Churches Together in Maidstone United Service

This Service was held to mark the beginning of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and is now held in three churches.  It began in St Faiths Church with a hymn the confession, psalm and a second hymn.  We then followed the Salvation Army band, which played well-known hymns to St Faith’s Church.  Here the service continued with another hymn, Gospel reading, Creed and intercessions and hymn,  We then processed to the United Reformed Church to the sounds of “Praise my Soul the King of Heaven” etc.  Here we heard the reading from John 14:1-6 and had a short sermon from the new Vicar of Loose.  We finished with a hymn and blessing…Tea was available afterwards.

I had the added bonus of walking back to my car accompanied by the Salvation Army band playing hymns while marching back to their new Citadel – the only break being for “Eyes Right” past their old Citadel!!

This was a well attended service, despite the rain, and it was nice renewing friendships with fellow Christians.  As the preacher said “We all travel on a journey as Christians but all meet united at the foot of the Cross.
