Christian Aid Week
11 - 17 May 2003

As the official agency of 40 denominations in the UK and Ireland, Christian Aid enables people to do together what they could never do by themselves. It supports work in over 60 countries world-wide enabling poor people, regardless of their religion, to help themselves. Working through local organisations in those countries, Christian Aid is able to

~ listen to those people to understand what causes their poverty

~ fund local projects that bring long-term benefits for poor people

~ give aid promptly when emergencies arise

~ campaign so that their case is put to those who have the power to change things

During Christian Aid Week every year about 350,000 volunteers in the UK and Ireland collect money to help the world's poorest communities.

Please help this year's effort by delivering and collecting donation envelopes in a street near you. We need plenty of volunteers as there are many roads in our parish. If you are unable to commit yourself to a whole road why not team up with friends and share a street? Although children can help with the delivery of envelopes please note that collectors must be at least 16 years old.

Last year we managed to raise a total of £1,452.63 so please do help if you possibly can. I can be contacted on Maidstone 203269 for further details.
