Our new Church School

From 1st September 2005 we will have a new Parish School. All Saints and St Stephen's Schools will cease to exist. Our new school is to be called Archbishop Courtenay Primary School (A Church of England Aided School). An interim governing body has been formed to make decisions for the school until a new full governing body takes over after half term in the Autumn term.

Mollie Neaves is the Chairman of Governors and Christopher Morgan - Jones Vice Chairman. Marion Brooks has been appointed Acting Headteacher.

At first the school will operate on the existing two sites: Town site and Tovil site. We hope to apply for funding for a new school building in Eccleston Road this autumn may be to be ready by September 2008. The uniform will be purple which is doubly appropriate both as an archbishop's colour and as at the moment one school has red and the other blue.

I am sure that locally the school will be referred to as Archbishops school. I do ask for everyone's prayers for this new venture. There will be considerable changes for staff with new responsibilities and roles. Some decisions are very difficult. I do hope that through this our children and the many children to move into the new housing being built at Tovil will receive an even better education and preparation for life.

Christopher Morgan - Jones
