Natalie Payne – World Challenge Expedition 2006

It all started just before Christmas when I brought home a letter from school giving details about a trip to Brazil in 2006. The trip is organised by World Challenge, a company that specialises in taking young people to far flung places and encourages them to help the local community with a specific task. Students have to plan their trip, organise their budget and most importantly choose their community project. The only snag is that I have to raise £3,000 so that I can go.

So far I have raised about £200 by doing odd jobs around the house, washing cars and running a tuck shop at school & I hope to get a part time job once I have finished my GCSEs. I am also taking part in a sponsored walk in June from which I am allowed to keep 50% of monies raised for this project.

On July 3rd my Mum & Dad have agreed to host a strawberries & cream tea afternoon (details below) to which you are all invited. Later on in the year I hope to have a Quiz Night at St Philips which my Dad has agreed to run.

I have some other ideas which I hope I can ask you to help me with. Recently, I raised over £40 by selling cakes one Sunday morning at St Philips and I would like to thank everyone who made cakes as well as bought them.

In addition if any of you have any jobs you think I might be able to do or help you with please let me know on Maidstone 751083.

If I am fortunate enough to go on this expedition I would like to be able to do a small presentation about it on my return as a way of showing thanks to all of you I hope will support me.
