New Licensing Laws
In past years the parish has held many events which involved the drinking of alcohol and we always kept within the law and applied for Occasional Licenses. These cost £10 for up to 12 each year.
However the law changed on 1st December 2005 and now we have to pay £21 for each event. This will only apply to events for which we sell tickets, so the mulled wine offered after carol concerts is still license-free, as are raffle prizes which are alcoholic.
Since many of our fund-raising events raise less than £500 we are now asking that, if you come to one of our events involving eating, you bring your own alcohol. This will prevent up to 10% of our profit going on a license.
This will effect future events, where we will be providing excellent fruit juices and many empty glasses for your own wine.
