After Elizabeth Bussmann

On 14th August we said goodbye to Elizabeth and Edie as they go to Trinity College, Bristol for Elizabeth to train for ordained ministry. Elizabeth has enriched the lives of many in our parish through her teaching, her care and through groups she has established that continue.

It is extremely unlikely that we will receive the services of another full time minister. I believe that there are now only two or three a year entering into this service in our diocese. We are talking with the Archdeacon about the possibility of 26, Albert Reed Gardens being used by a part time ‘house for duty’ priest either for our parish or more widely in the deanery.

Elizabeth’s going will leave an important gap which can only be partly filled as members of our parish take on extra responsibilities or as Priscilla and I change our priorities. What is important is that we are told if significant things that need doing are not being done in Elizabeth’s absence. We have always considered it a most important priority to be available to those who would like to talk with us either for themselves or about some work, some responsibility someone would like to consider undertaking. Please do not be hesitant about asking.
