All Saints with St. Philip PCC

 

The Parochial Church Council met on Tuesday the 26th September. What follows is a brief indication of the proceedings. The Agenda, associated paper work and the full Minutes of the meeting are available for all to read in all three of our worship centres.

 

Only two members of the PCC were unable to attend the meeting, one because of holidays and the other because of illness.

 

It was agreed that the proposed work to up-date the electrical system of All Saints organ and the removal of the console to a moveable platform in the nave should proceed.

 

It was noted that a TV company had been given permission by the vicar to film in and around St. Philip’s church.

 

It was reported that we are in discussion with Maidstone Borough Council regarding toilet facilities at All Saints.

 

It was agreed that profits from All Saints Shop should be donated to All Saints Restoration Trust

 

The news article published in the Kent Messenger on Friday the 22nd September relating to churchyards was discussed and the possible impact on All Saints and St. Stephen’s churchyard highlighted.

 

     The vicar reported some minor security problems at All Saints within the last few weeks. Remedial action had been agreed and the work is under way.                                                                        

 

The Treasurer’s report and the accounts as at the 30th June which had been made available to members with the agenda for the meeting were discussed and accepted.

 

Information regarding the 2007 Stewardship Renewal Campaign was provided.

                  

It was agreed that the Child Protection document provided by the Diocese should be signed.

However it was also agreed that the possibility of our re-wording the document to make it more     

meaningful to this parish should be pursued. The Youth Committee will work on this.

 

It was agreed that a small working party be set up to pursue this matter.

 

Faculty applications were agreed for the provision of a new lighting system in All Saints and at St. Philip’s the improvement of access through the main door by the disabled, the provision of improved toilet facilities for the disabled and the installation of a lift from the ground floor to the first floor in the main entrance.

 

     It was agreed to appoint Mr Nicholas Lee Evans as architect to St. Philip’s Church and Centre. Ag

 

     It was agreed that two new Parent Foundation Governors for Archbishop Courtenay Primary School The Revd. Dr. Timothy Carter and Mrs Louise Heasman be appointed.

                                                   

     The Revd. Canon Christopher Morgan-Jones provided an up-date report on progress regarding the proposed new school in Tovil. The Head Teacher gave an encouraging report of progress in the school following new teaching arrangements.

 

     Following a letter signed by all three of our Diocesan Bishop’s appealing for funds so that the Diocese of Antisiranana (in the north of Madagascar) could build a cathedral (at a cost of £25,000) it was agreed that all of our congregations would be asked to contribute to a retiring collection after our Harvest services.

 

     Carol Singing around the parish has been arranged as follows:-

     Monday 11th December from Archbishop Courtenay School Tovil site 7.00pm to 9.00pm

     Thursday 14th December from St. Philip’s Church 7.00pm to 9.00pm

 

     The existence of St. Philip’s calendar was made known.
