The Friends of St. Philip’s Community Centre
April News Letter

At a recent Committee meeting we were given approximate figures for the work required to install toilets for the disabled, improve the entrance for the disabled and to install a lift. A figure of £70,000 to £75,000 has been quoted, final figures are still awaited.

With this in mind we have planned a few events over the next few months. The first of which is a variety evening to be held on Saturday 16th April starting 7.30 p.m., at St Philip’s Church, at which there will be various acts such as dance, singing and recitals. It is hoped that a few numbers from Joseph will be included. There will be a retiring collection.

Our next event will be the May Fair on Monday 2nd May, help and ideas for stalls are most welcome. On the 25th June there will be an evening with a group of singers called “Just Deserts” who perform favourites from musicals such as Pirates of Penzance, Les Miserable etc., again to be held at St Philip's Church. Candlelit supper at the Centre on the 9th July, weather permitting this will be “al fresco”, menu will be available closer to the 9th, and on the 30th July tombola stall at the River Festival.

We very much hope that you, your friends and relatives will come along and support us at one or more of the above events. The sooner we can raise the £75,000 the quicker work can commence and improve facilities at the Church and Centre.

We look forward to seeing you at one of the above events. Many thanks for your continued help and support.

Secretary
