The American Lunch

On the eve of Wimbledon week rain did not stop play at Marguerite’s American Summer Lunch – twenty people arrived in drips and drabs and once armed with a drink – red or white American wine of course – socialised with the gathered throng.

When lunch was ready we filed through the kitchen in a one way system to collect our plateful of food. After that we ventured out into the garden under awnings which proved not to be able to withstand the downpour which ensued.

Katie Farrant armed herself with a large golfing umbrella and like a lifeboat rescued and ferried stranded wet people back to the safety of the house. It was quite fitting that Katie won 1st prize in the raffle after all her T.L.C. A big ‘Thank You’ to Roger Manuell who provided endless entertainment throughout. A big ‘Thank You’ too to Marguarite, Keith and all the friends and family who helped with preparation and distributing liberal amounts of alcohol!!

A grand total of £150.00 was raised for All Saints Restoration and Development Trust.

We now look forward to next year – and discovering which country is next?
