A Dream for Maidstone

Park Wood, Maidstone

I have a dream that I want to share with you.
My dream is that Maidstone is made for all.

There flows through the town a beautiful river. but is it?
It’s polluted with rubbish, broken glass shattered in the banks, cans kicked into the water and paths often flooded and slippery.

I have a dream of a crystal clear river with a small waterfall flowing into a paddling pool. A swimming area and boating lake with water sports. Places to sit and chill out for everyone.

There are some lovely parks in Maidstone with playgrounds and pitches, benches and bins. I am grateful for these and we must look after them.

But in my dream there are more parks with greater choice of play, apparatus for toddlers to teens. More sport facilities for everyone. Parks with more trees and gardens for people and wildlife to enjoy. A place to run and play with my dog. But even in my dreams dogs do poos, so we must remember to bag and bin it.

I have a dream that Maidstone is more of a muli cultural town so we can share new experiences. Eat different food and drink, wear different clothes, listen to different music in a brand new stadium.
A town where black and white are equal and friends.

I dream of a cleaner Maidstone where graffiti is wiped out and no chewing gum or litter trashes the street. We need more recycling bins.

A town that is easy to get to with better buses. Free for children every weekend so you can all come and enjoy my dream town too.

I dream of a town where it is safe to walk, where crime doesn’t happen.
Were everybody has a house and a garden.

This is my dream, a town where the river isn’t ruined; there are more parks for pleasure and leisure where different cultures play in a family way. Where Maidstone’s kept clean – or we’ll get mean.
Lots more transport – it could be fun.
Come to Maidstone – Made for everyone.
