Caterpillar Cabin Trip to Folkestone 2004 In
February the staff got together (with a tide timetable!)
to organise the annual seaside trip. It has to be a
Wednesday so the toddler group can come, we discussed the
venue but as usual Folkestone was chosen
We
need to arrive at low tide to play on the sand with the
tide rising so we can escape at So, book the
coaches and all is done. Well so we
thought! When did we go The coaches
rolled to the coast down the motorway. We
fought our way to the seafront café for the inevitable
fix of coffee. We left the café in high spirits
until I (all 62 of me) was almost bowled off
my feet, quick stop for a conference decided to battle on
the path round the harbour was the worst we lost
hats, a bucket and a £5 note, we hung on to children and
just glad to reach the brick wall at the other end to
shelter behind. After a
brief respite we battled on to the beach, once down the
slope the wind didnt seem so bad until the sand
whipped up round us and beat against our skin. We
ALL now have the most beautiful skin texture and tone as
we have been sand-blasted (who needs
expensive beauty treatments?). We sheltered
from the torrential rain in the arches and made them our
home for the day. We ate our picnics, built sand-castles
and paddled UNTIL one mum who has travelled
with us for many years said Oh Diane, you have let
us down, every year you swim in the sea WELL one
look at Claire and with glasses, watch, sweater, tea
shirt and by then shorts off we ran to the sea and we
were in. No challenge too great, well I dont
know, I wouldnt say swim was what any of us could
do perhaps get wet, bowled over by huge waves and prove
we had been in the sea. Well done to Not the best
annual pilgrimage to Folkestone for our summer seaside
trip but many tales to tell. We all made the best
of the day, lots of laughter, lots of sand and lots of
experiences and lost of sleepy children on arrival back
to the nursery. Our thanks to everyone who braved
the day and thanked us for our efforts. Diane Daniels Photo Gallery |
