Mothers’ Union Outing – July 8th 2003

On a glorious sunny day members of the Mothers’ Union and a few friends met at Maidstone Bridge and boarded the ‘Kentish Lady’ for a boat trip to the Malta Inn. The onboard commentary was very informative but not always absorbed by out talkative group. Watman Park, the recently altered landscape and the new river bridges were admired by members especially those who had not seen them before from the river.

The ‘gallant trio’, Brian, Richard and Lionel greeted us on our arrival at the INN! (who was the little bird who informed them?). Able members quickly secured prime river-side seats for us all. Other members joined us. Much chatter and comings and goings preceded lunch. Not to mention one lady who showered members with fruit drink!

Most people explored the vicinity and two were seen disappearing far beyond the lock. Others visited Cobtree museum. The weather was still perfect for the return voyage. It was a happy outing and everyone had time to meet up with friends before our break till September the 9th.
