Who put the Bomp ……….? Come and join me for a low-fi, low-brow evening’s music, fun and nostalgia – and help me raise a few pounds for homeless people at Christmas.
Those of us of a certain age will remember British pop music in its infancy, post-Elvis but pre-Beatles. Remember ‘6.5 Special’? ‘Oh Boy!’? Tommy Steele, Marty Wilde, Billy Fury – oh, and a young upstart, name of Cliff Richard? Juke Boxes, Coffee Bars, Skiffle Groups, American influences in cars, fashion and music? I’ll be hosting an evening’s entertainment around these themes on Wednesday November 15th in St Philip’s Coffee Bar (where else?!!) starting at 7:30pm until about 9:15pm. For the princely sum of just £2 you’ll be able to listen to some of the sounds of those times played on records using record players – no digital contrivances at this event!!! Two of our lovely ladies have volunteered to demonstrate the Hand-Jive and there’ll be hot drinks available but sorry, no jiving in the aisles!
Please give me a call on 01622 761165 to confirm your interest (just so I can make sure we’ve enough space, coffee and tea for everyone!). All proceeds after expenses will be donated to Maidstone Christian Care.
Definitely a case of – Be There Or Be Square!!!
