The
Friends of St. Philips Community Centre December
News Letter As some
of you may remember, Trevor Peacock was to attend our
open day in October. Unfortunately due to a filming
engagement Trevor was unable to come. As compensation
Trevor offered tickets to the filming of the Christmas
day show of Vicar of Dibley. Ten tickets for the Sunday
filming arrived at the eleventh hour and the Committee,
with the aid of Philip Eastgate as their chauffer, made
their way to Shepperton Studios. We had
strict instructions not to be late or we would lose our
places and so we arrived with time to spare, were issued
with our glow in the dark stickers and told where to
queue. As we were production staff guests we stood in a
separate queue and waited to be shown to our seats. We
were to learn that there was a delay and as the sun went
down so did the temperatures. There were no facilities to
buy refreshments and Philip began to get itchy feet. When
our backs were turned Philip disappeared for a short
while returning with a steaming mug of coffee, which he
drank with relish whilst the rest of us could only look
on. Eventually
we were escorted into the studio, were issued with a
chocolate bar, bottle of water and given a rundown on the
evening's events. We were then introduced to the writer,
cast and crew and filming began. It was a whole new
experience to all of us and proved to be a most enjoyable
evening. Filming
over we were joined by Trevor's daughter and were taken
to meet Trevor. We were led through the maize of
buildings and arrived at a large impressive room to find
ourselves at the post filming party where we ate, drank,
danced and mingled with the cast and crew. Finally we
wound our weary way home arriving in Maidstone in the
early hours of Monday morning. But tell
us more about the Vicar of Dibley I hear you cry. Oh how
I wish I could but we have all been sworn to secrecy,
however, I can reveal that it is hilarious and not to be
missed. You won't of course, be able to see any of us but
you may well be able to pick out our raucous laughter. A merry
Christmas and happy New Year to you all. Gwen Moss |
