Canon Collis

Canon Collis died on 10th December 1905. This year, Saturday 10th December will be the 100th anniversary of his death.

I am sad that the next day sees a divided congregation at St Philip’s. I intend that we thank God for all Canon Collins did to establish St Philip’s on good foundations at the 11.00am Parish Eucharist on Sunday 11th December.

I do hope that as many as possible of all who belong to St Philip’s will be there to assist in celebrating this important anniversary.

Canon Collins was the first Vicar of St Philip’s and served the parish for 43 years. He had a reputation for promoting education throughout the county and diocese and in Maidstone, he was a greatly respected gentleman.
